We made Sunday a little yummier with a chili cook off at the guys' place. There were tons of chili, even more laughs, and plenty of food comas by the end of it all. Not to mention all the people! I loved seeing old friends and meeting new ones. I even whipped out the foosball skills and play a couple friendly matches, that may or may not have included lots of yelling and some sweaty palms. There could not have been better weather either - the sun was shining so brightly and it was just cool enough to still wear Patagonia and flannel, as one should at fall celebratory events.
All of the chilis were incredibly delicious, with equally creative team names. The votes were proof of how good each one was, the winner was determined only by one vote (congrats to my ladies, Amal and Sara!) There were turkey chilis, cheesy chilis, cinnamon chili with goat cheese, Mexican inspired chilis, and chili using the freshest of farm ingredients. Along with plenty of toppings, from the good ol' Fritos to the classic sour cream and cheddar cheese. I loved seeing all the variety in the bowls - my own bowl sported a large ladle-ful of the cinnamon chili (my personal favorite of the day, thanks Ben and Elizabeth!) sprinkled with some goat cheese crumbles and a hunk of cornbread. Other bowls I spied out there included a cheesy chili with Fritos, a turkey chili with the classic toppings, and a verrry tomato-y chili complete with bow tie pasta, mozzarella, and parsley... wait are we still talking about chili here?
Regardless, it's Wednesday and I'm still full.
