Picnic dates, it's been a while. We were frequent friends last summer when work didn't exist and I'm sorry I neglected you this season. But I'm glad we got to do it once before the summertime vibes made way for the fall.
Andrew and I took a day to pack up some easy snacks and sammies for a little Chicago adventure. We took the train down to the Loop and then the bus over to Adler Planetarium right by Lake Michigan. We blended in with the rest of the Asian tourists and snapped some pictures before settling down on the steps to munch on our various snacks. I couldn't have asked for more perfect weather, it was warm but breezy, the water was so bright blue and sparky from the sun. One of those days that just makes you feel good, you know? A happy go lucky day. Which are so rare nowadays! And that made me appreciate that beautiful day even more.
Andrew is such a great human for carrying around the lunchbox all over the city - we initially planned on taking the transit back home but got carried away with trying to find a sweet treat post-picnic, and ultimately ended up walking all the way back home! Yo that cone was worth it though - it's a s'mores marshmallow flavor from Kilwin's! As if we couldn't channel summer enough.
I've noticed some cooler temps and looking at my calendar now... it's September?! Where did the time go? So with this post I say sayonara to summertime and hola to autumn. I've got my mind set on apple cider doughnuts and a chili cook off in the works, fingers crossed! Have a beautiful Labor Day weekend, friends!
