I finally came home tonight and pulled up these photos to edit, and I've been smiling from ear to ear looking at each and every one of them! My intern class drove up to the Wilmette Park District a few miles north of the city for a day, where we ate bagels and shared stories and showed off our creative sides for the day. Seriously you guys are all so damn funny, I don't think I've laughed so hard in a good long while.
Our program directors talked a lot about joy today, and I won't dwell too long on the subject in this little space since we talked about it at length at the retreat. But I will say this: intern year has so many obstacles, and even if we seem totally put together on the outside, every single one of us goes through tough times, rough patches, frustrations to the points where we just want to stop. I think today made that more apparent than ever. But I think the other major theme of today was how overwhelmingly supportive we are of each other - the sense of community is strong within our class, and I know that I can go to any of you for a good cry or a warm hug any day.
My absolute favoritest part of the day was when we got to go outside!! Thanks Chicago, for deciding to be unseasonably warm for a day so that we could go out towards the lake and breath in your fresh air. And the sunshine led to perfectly sunny, squinty eyed, truly happy photos! So here are a handful of them from that little midday excursion.
I love every single one of you beautiful humans. Thank you for making intern year truly one of the most special years of my life so far.
The entire group! Almost all of the interns gathered into one space - a photo I will cherish forever and ever.
Heart full of friendship love is at absolute capacity. Feeling all the happy feels tonight as I head to bed. Good night, happy weekend, and thank you, sweet co-interns, for such a beautiful day.
