Feels great to be done with exams. I celebrated with my friend Keki (okay her name's actually Revathi but I like Keki) by going to Rook in Fountain Square. Delightful food and delightful company. She got a bahn mi, Korean style (holla holla) and I got a chicken and pickled vegetable rice bowl. I love all things brine-y. I will be back for more.
Andrew's going back up to Chicago this weekend to see his family, so we celebrated Valentine's Day a little early. We didn't really feel like going out, so we decided to cook up dinner at my place and eat dessert, and just chill tonight. Which is exactly what I need after a week of exams. We popped open some wine, nommed on some snyder's honey mustard and onion & jalepeno pretzel bites, and made these incredible orange-ginger salmon packets from cake over steak. Andrew did most of the chopping, he doesn't trust my knife skills at allllll. I ended up doing a lot of picture taking and making the packets looks all nice and pretty. We finished the meal with our first attempt at a chocolate souffle. I think it was pretty successful, considering we devoured it minutes out of the oven. Oh and we made a mini one with the leftover batter, and ate that one too. And now we can't walk because we're so full of chocolate souffle, orange ginger salmon, pretzel nibbles, and white wine. Very fitting for two people who like to eat.
P.S. I made a gif! You can check it out below. Pretty excited about that. Oh the possibilities! P.P.S. Sorry for the sub-par (read: blurry) photos! I wanted to still document the day though because I was actually outside for once, not stuck at my desk looking at cardiology.
It was a truly wonderful (early) valentine's day.
Love love, Erica
