We had three dear friends come up to Chicago this past weekend and even though I was working nights the whole time, I am so grateful that we were still able to find time to laugh and hug and make fun of Dan. One of the highlights was dim sum Sunday, for me after my shift and for them after a night out on the town dancing and eating Fat Baby Tacos at 2 am. It was an adventure for all of us, trying out a new restaurant called Ming Hin where the dim sum is hot (the har gow was amazing, the shu mai kicked ass) and you order main dishes with iPads (salt and pepper shrimp, always). To top it off, we waited only 2 minutes before our number was called, and we even got a private room. So moral of the story is to go with a large group. And come hungry. Hangover optional.
We ended our Chinatown expedition with some bubble tea from Joy Yee - v appropriate for a post dim sum brunch. I forgot how much I love those little tapioca bubbles. Andrew and I split a coffee milk tea with boba. Lauren got the rose green milk tea that was so beautifully pink. Ambika got the Vietnamese iced coffee, the perfect blend of sweet and bitter. Max got I don't even remember, but it had popping boba! There are so many options and I need to go back to try them all.
Dan, Amal, and Ambika - thanks for taking the trip up to see all of us. It filled up my heart and got me through the last few nights of night float. Until next time!
