October is just the warm up to the busy months ahead, with interviews coming full force in a few weeks. I've got my first one next week, and the butterflies are already stirring in a half-nervous, half-excited way. Nervous because, it's an interview! Suits and smiles and good timing are a must. Excited because, it's an interview! Meeting new faces, seeing new places, and lots of miles on the road with my favorite travel companion. We've been fortunate to have a lot of our interviews match up so we won't have to make the trips alone. Which will hopefully mean more food adventures and awkward dance moves in the car. Things I absolutely love.
So with the few days we have in October to just chill at home, we drove out to Anderson Orchard last weekend to embrace the crisp air and sunny skies. He had never been to one before, so I made sure to go the u-pick route for maximum orchard experience. We wandered up and down the trees and shared bites of freshly picked fruit before deciding which ones to take home. Black Twig became a surprising new favorite, and the golden delicious were especially beautiful this year. They've already proven their worth in the kitchen, and I can't wait to share the result soon. We finished the day with food - an apple cobbler to share, cider to refresh us after walking through the dirt paths amongst the trees. It was cheesy, corny, quintessential fall goodness.
Happy fall, wherever you are!
